Prop. plugs...what are they ?

I've read where some boaters remove the black plugs from their props. What are the possible benefits / detriments of removing them ?

There are some props that have vent holes cut in the hubs. This will allow exhaust gases to ventilate the blades and give a little slip on accel. Then they kind of go along for the ride when at speed. Some boats like them, some don't, if not, you just put plugs in them.

P.V.S. Performance Vent System.

Allows the boater to dial in the amount of propeller ventilation on hole shot. Really ony usable with through hub exhaust boat set ups.

There is a whole history to venting propellers. Call me if you ever want to discuss to ins and outs.

OK, who remembers the Pentagon vent?

And what propeller was it in??????????
