Revolution vs Bravo 1 4 Blade Prop
 

Can anyone tell me what other differences there are between the Revolution and the Bravo 1 4 blade? I've noted the Rev is rated for less than 400hp and that it comes in odd size pitches. I'm currently running a Mirage Plus 23p at 4800 rpm with a 454mag EFI Bravo drive. I'm thinking the Bravo 1 22 would be the choice unless there's something special with the Rev (diameter) that would allow me to stay with the 23p and pick up 200 more RPM? Any thoughts??

You would loose rpm going to the 23 REV4. You would probably loose about 200rpms with the extra blade.
The REV4 gives a lot more stern lift and less bow lift than a Bravo 1. I do not think there is a 400hp limit other than if you are using the plastic hub.

When the Rev 4 was developed, it was done for single engine stern drives in the 20 something foot range. Mainly designed to aid the performance in slightly under powered situations.

The prop can handle any power you want to throw at it. Originally it only came in sizes to 23 pitch. Because it worked so well, we decided to offer it up to 25 pitch. The prop is a great 4bl alternative for those who can't turn the Bravo 1's.

Its diameter is only 14 5/5" which allows the stern to settle more actually aiding in bow lift. It is a high rake aggressive blade design. Very fast on the right hull. The blades are fashioned after the Tempest propeller.

We would need to work the prop to gain rpm over your 23 Mirage.

BBLADES, I've got a 26 Powerquest Legend with a 454mag efi, bravo drive currently spinning a stock Mirage Plus 23p at 4800 rpm running at 60mph. Boat handles very well, just was hoping for a little more top end and heard some guys with 27 Powerquest Lasers running the Revolution with same power with good results. Have you sold many props to people with the 26 Legend? And if so whats the most popular.

My experience with the Rev 4s was great for the set up I use to have. When I was running stock drive height on my HTM the stock Rev 4 23 pitch was faster than my labbed 24 Bravo I. The rpm was a little higher on the Rev than the Bravo by about a 100 rrrrrrrrs.
Be careful on info. You said you had a 23plus??? Mirage. Make sure the info you are getting is understood that you have the 23p and not a 23. Their is a big difference and the 23p will not turn near as fast as the 23 will.
My stock 23p was faster than my labbed 24, 3 to 4 mph faster. The Rev was good because it was almost as fast as my Mirage was and it had all of the pluses of being a 4 blade.
I later got a 2" shortie and that forced me to use the Bravo because of its larger diameter 15.25". The Revs are 14.625".
You don't know til ya try. But when you do the test do them back to back. My overall gain was better with the 2" shortie and the Bravo I. But boy did it cost. I have an IMCO Extreme SC.$$$$$$$$$$ :eek:

F F I'm afraid this thread got away from me.

We have probably sold more B1's to those customers over the years that I was at Mercury Racing. There have been a number of Mirages though. Now we are trying to get people to realize the benefits of the Revolution 4. It has all the benefits of a 4blade with allot of bow carrying ability and great top end speed.
