mirage vs. mirage plus
hi
what advantages does the mirage plus have over the older mirage props? thanks |
Re: mirage vs. mirage plus
Since I have been doing prop research recently, what I do know is that the Plus has cupped blades, which effectively adds about +1 to the pitch - other than that no one has pointed out any other differences to me. If there are, I'd like to know too.

Re: mirage vs. mirage plus
If the cup adds about an inch of pitch what would the difference be between having a 25 mirage plus and a 26 mirage?

Re: mirage vs. mirage plus
Mirages are only made in odd number pitches. Bravo 1's are made in even number pitches.

Re: mirage vs. mirage plus
will a plus go faster on a heavy hull that needs a lot of bow lift like my 35 mistress?? my mirages are not plus would they help???

Re: mirage vs. mirage plus
The Mirage Plus and Mirage are essentially the same propellers as far as the basic geometry. The Mirage Plus does have additional cupping to aid in reducing slip #'s. This does raise the overall pitch slightly. Not a whole inch. The Mirage Plus also has the FloTorq 2 hub assembly to allow the use on a large variety of applications. In addition the PVS system was added to help hole shot on outboard set ups.
The standard Mirage will be a faster on a boat not requiring aid in bow lift and that has great efficiency (low slip #'s). True pitch is always faster than progressive if the boat can handle it (most can't). Bigger deeper V's tend to like the Plus series better because the trailing edge helps them to get on plane and also helps the cruise speeds. Hope this answers some of your questions. Oh yeah, the changes took place in about 1997 |
