prop hub
I have a mirage prop with a permanant type but square hub. Can I remove the hub myself with a press or is the a special setup for removing it? I am replacing it with a flo-torq hub.

Re: prop hub
If you have a Flo torq design hub then you should be able to hit it out. I would recommend a dowl rod and a hammer. If it has a rubber bushing you will need a hydrolic press to remove it.

Re: prop hub
Thanks
the existing hub is not a flo-torq, just the one I'm replacing it with. What is your email address. I've refurbished my boat and am trying to prop it and don't want to waste everyone else's time and space here. Thanks again! |
Re: prop hub
You may have a prop with a square rubber bushing. In this case you may replace it with the Flo-Torque 2 style hub system.
All you need is a regular press, nothing special. Turn the prop so the flare ring is up, then press the old rubber bushing out. We have a gage that measures the pressure on the hub. If the pressure gets over a few thousand pounds you may want to heat the area around the hub, that will soften the rubber and allow it to come out easily. Matt |
