5 blade v 4 blade
 

Has anyone tried a Hydromotive 5 blade on your Cat that you usually ran a 4 blade? I am just curious if it is worth the $$$ to try a 5 blade for some extra mph...

It could be, but as you know all boats have their own performance characteristics which determine what prop works best.

In my twin cat, bravo1 30 vs. hering 31 5b., which can only judge characteristics, the hering was more efficient at 75 and above. You could really feel the transom lift which was not good for my hull until above 80. Then enough air was packed to lift the nose. At 50, had to use about double the amount of trim, and the boat had a slight porpoise, which did not have with the bravo. Surprisingly the bravo comes out much better. It is amazing how different the props are. I think you will just have to try before you know for sure.

An HTM SR24 that I did a Whipple on this year seemed to love the change to a P5-X from a Bravo One. He said it made the whole boat feel different in a great way.
I'll have to check on details though.

What will be harder on the drive? A 4 blade or 5 blade? Bravo or Hydro?

Hi Julie,
That was the 27P5-X we stuck on that HTM. You had added some cup to it back when we had our other Nordic.
