Need suggestions
 

Have Baja 275 with stock 496 Mag. Now getting 63MPH with Merc 23p three blade prop. This is what came on boat new. I would like a little more speed but don't know which prop to go to. Should I have the three blade I have labbed or go to one of the newer props like a four blade and maybe have it labbed. If so what four blade. Im getting 4700-4800 RPM two adults 3/4 tank fuel. I guess Im asking which is the better prop for speed, 3 or 4 blade. I don't want to spend the money labbing a three balde if I can get better results from a 4 blade. I am happy with hole shot and mid range speed.

For top speed, the Mirage Plus will be the fastest.

If you are happy with the 3 bl performance, I would Lab Finish it. Your efficiency numbers are good and you have room to grow rpm wise.

For your particular boat the Mirage is going to be the all-out fastest prop. Since you are almost out of rpm with your motor, the rev limiter is about 4900, you may need a little pitch added to your current prop if it was to be lab finished. For the best top end speed that motor needs to run about 4800 rpm at WOT.

Another option would be to see if you can find a good used stock 25 pitch old style Mirage (not the Mirage Plus). That would put your rpm about where you want it and you should see an increase in top end speed.

When I first read this I was thinking Mag HO. I see after reading it again, you stated stock 496.

Your rev limiter is 4950. A Lab Finished 25 Mirage Plus will most likely net the biggest top end gains.
