Nordic Heat prop suggestions please

I've got an 05 Nordic Heat with Merc 525 ITS and XR w/1.5 ratio
Current prop is bravo - 28 pitch with added cupping runs consistent 76 best of 79 mph at 5100 rpm (not complaining)
I've tried a labbed bravo 32 but kept hitting the rev limiter also tried a stock 30 bravo but it ran a tiny bit slower and lost mid range punch. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: Nordic Heat prop suggestions please

Your slip is a little too high. That's why you were hitting the rev limiter with the lab 32 Bravo 1. If you have to add cup to a stock Bravo 1 something is not right, the cup is a band aid to a problem.

In your case it seems as if the drive is mounted too high. If you can get your hands on a 1" spacer it would be worth giving it a try.

We have had great results with your boat with the P5X 5 blade prop. I don't think I would put money into props right now. I would get the slip where it should be and then start with props.

Matt

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. (Not until spring) Long Island is a bit cold January thru March.

Thanks Ray

Ray,

Check the Nordic forum and bobl's results adding a 1" spacer on his Heat. He saw a considerable benefit! Although he's runing more power, it's the same drive.

I have a 28' Heat with a modified 575SCi. You will find lots of propeller and spacer recommendations on our boats in the Nordic forum.
The factory has been using a very high 19.25"s X-dimension, and that does result in excess slippage with Bravo 1s, as Matt mentioned. Your speed #s are correct to the boat and horsepower. Mine ran 76GPS, when stock with a badly slipping Merc lab 30" B1. It now runs 83/85 consistently.
BobL did find several MPH with a 1" spacer. He also has the ITS box, so you may too. I found the best setup to be a standard length Imco gearcase (with 1.5s from my Bravo XR case) and a blueprinted 28" Hydromotive P-5X, purchased from Throttle UP. I am also testing a TU blueprinted Bravo1,
and a 1" spacer. I'll report the results in the Nordic Forum in March, when boating season resumes here.
BTW, Matt has extensive knowledge regarding these boats. He has worked with several of us to get our boats running correctly. I recommend him highly.
Regards,
Steve

I'm always happy to recommend you guys. It's a pleasure working with best!
Rick and I think our Bravos look great and we're looking forward to getting them WET in March. I would have gone testing yesterday (75o/sunny/very tempting), but I would to re-winterize....... :(

Steve

Steve/Matt/Julie & Jim

Thank you so much for the info

My dealer (Tri-State Performance Marine) sent my prop out to be tweaked last month and I believe he has it back already. I'm pretty sure he sent it to Throttle Up. Anyway I'm gonna try the spacer in the spring.

Re: Nordic Heat prop suggestions please

Ray, your boat is running exceptionally well as it is. I'm guessing your drive is already lower than what mine was based on your slip numbers. At 80 mph(gps) I was turning 5500 RPM with a stock 30" Bravo 1, for a comparison. After adding the drive spacer I gained about 3-4 MPH at all RPMs. With the 1" spacer I'm running a 29P5X at 5550 RPM and 87 MPH. Currently running approximately 750 HP. For comparison purposes this is on glass smooth water and 110 degree inlet air temp and 700 ft. elevation.

Matt & Julie,
The P5X is headed your way today. I need that other 3 MPH! LOL.. Dave Gilbreath's props are headed your way also. Thanks for all the help.

Bob
