Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
Someone told me they make a prop shaft that you can run a speed master prop on a bravo 1 outdrive .Any info out there on this ???
isnt the Dia a lot bigger? Rob :drink: |
Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
There is a conversion on the market which replaces the prop shaft in a Bravo one to a 26 spline speed master shaft.
We have worked props for customers who have done this conversion. The diameter does need to be reduced. The maximum diameter is dependent on which lower unit is used. Matt |
Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
The Diameter Is 15 On The Bravo Style Props And The Speedmasters Start Life At 17 To 18 Then Cut Down To What You Need. If You Want To Spend $5000 For A New Pair Of Props Then Do It. If You Want The Boat To Carrie The Stern Then Do It. If You Want The Boat To Plain Off Terrible And Slower Mid Range Then Do It. Speak To Jc About Herrings

Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
Hi Rob,
Glad you made it to this board. lol Call my old friend Rolf at ProRoc Marine in New Jersey. He makes the best set up you'll find. Tell him I sent you over there. 732-477-7039 www.proroc.com He is a big Spectre, Hustler, Mercury dealer. I have been doing his set ups and props for 10 years. He will take good care of you. We can make 26 spline props to all kinds of configurations, diameters, etc. etc. The diameter doesn't have to be reduced depending on what we start with (no brainer). We love those props! Take care. Call anytime. |
Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
Bret he is the one I heard that was doing it .Trying to justify the price of it ?

Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
For high X set ups with true cleaver propellers the system works well. We have used most on Jay Pilini's cats. A lot can be done with the long hub cleavers. It's definitely a go fast situation. If I remember correctly, your slip was pretty high. If we could use the diameter to control some of the slip we may be ok. Your boat should run pretty flat, it doesn't need bow lift.

Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
I read something in the information on the new Merc 700/ACE drive package that said they had an adapter to go between both styles of props for that drive. Anyone know which way it is splined standard and if the adapteris available as a part only?

I just acquired a new set of 30 4 blades, maybe that will help? Sonny Spectre 30 I heard at the Miami show a Cig with Merc 700/ACE had a drive failure already:eek: Rob :drink: |
Re: Speedmaster props on a Bravo 1
Yes there was a drive issue in Miami.
The ACE drive has its own spline configuration. It will have hub kits for the square bore (Bravo) and 26 spline log hub props. Separate part numbers and available separate. It is still to be decided whether a structure BOM's will be supplied to offer Bravo style props with the correct hub or without one completely and then require you to obtain one separately. Anticipate June before all the answers are available. I'll let you know as it unfolds. Rob, didn't you run Labbed 30's before? I had 99.1@6000 written down at one time. The box stock props will help slightly over the Labs but I don't feel will alleviate the porpoise completely. We can do some things with those 30's to help if you want to try it. Get a base line and we can talk about it. sinking the drive is another discussion too. |
