Are you experiencing any difficulties getting on plane, now? If so they may improve your planning capabilities.

Re: prop venting

If you are feathering them, you don't want to vent them. They are already venting themselves.

This is one of the issues with the blade design on the Hydros. This is also one of the benifits the blade design of the Bravo 1 offers. You may get the best of both worlds if you Lab Finish the Bravo 1's. I'm only assuming the Bravo's aren't Labbed.

Re: prop venting

Do you have flare rings on the Hydro's? On the aft end of the prop the tube should increase in diameter. If you don't have the flare ring installing one may eliminate the prop ventilation while getting on plane. You would have the best of both worlds without the cost of a lab finish.

The diffuser may or may not help your planing.

The diffuser may or may not affect your speed negatively.

i have no rings on hydros the bravos were nice all threw the powerband but the hydros were real nice at top end in nasty water.the bravos were slower a wot and a bit flighty. did a say the activator is a step bottom.the hydros dont seem to be wider at the aft end.

Re: prop venting

The flare rind may reduce the ventilating while getting on plane. Yes, the Bravos are a better all-around prop than the Hydros are on your boat. ]

Flare rings can be installed on your props easily, installed they are $40 each.

Throttle up vented my Hydro's, made a huge difference. It allowed my 250 Efi's get to get that "jump" they needed. Had similar experience with the Bravo's.
