difference in props

I just completed a few minor upgrades to my 271 fastech wich included EMI exhaust & a cp performance efi upgrade for the 502 mag. With a stock 26p bravo 1 it turns 5200rpm. If I go to a labbed 28 bravo 1 what rpm's should I expect? My mechanic says I should try to run lower rpms. BTW the rev limit is set at 5400. Should I get the 26 labbed & try to spin that many revs with a mostly stoch 502?

you should get 5000-5100 with a labbed 28.

Id turn the 26 into a 27 and lab it, that should do well and pick up a few mph without buying a new prop.

If yo lab finished your 26 your rpm will be too high and your top end speed will probably drop.

With the modifications you have done to the motor the power curve should not have moved much. I don' t thing turning more than 5100-5200 would gain you any top end speed.

A lab finished 28 should put your rpm where you want it to run and give you an increase in your top end speed.

I would agree having the 28 Bravo 1 Labbed would be the best option. You will more than likely gain a couple mph at any given rpm in the mid range too.
