28 Bravo 1 vs. Hydromotive
 
I am told that a 28 Bravo 1 is really a 27. That being the case or not, what would be the equivelant Hydromotive Quad 4?

A 28 Bravo 1 would be about a 26. The Hydros are pretty close to what they say. To find out exactly take your props to your nearest prop specialist and have them measure it on a pitch block.

Bravo props are generally about 1" less in pitch than stamped.

Griff is right.... just about 1" but closer to 2" :rolleyes:

tomcei: a 26 Bravo 1 would be a 24" on the pitch block.

The standard rule of thumb is that all Bravo I propellers are 1' less than the pitch stamped on the propeller. However, in reality they are anywere from 1.0" to 1.50" less than is stamped. One must keep in mind that these are production props that are delivered to the markt place having met the quality control standards that are established by each individual anufacturer. However, a 36P Bravo I can be 2-3 inches below the marked pitch. But as a rule of thumb if you are trying to calculate your propeller slip reduce one inch of pitch from the stamped pitch. The Pitch blocks are developed from a master propeller provided by the manufacturer of the propeller. So the Bravo I 26P pitch block is indeed made for a 26P Bravol I and is stamped as such. It is not stamped 24P nor would you typically use a 24P block to repair or work a 26P Bravo I.

The Hydromotive propellers are within .50 inches of the stamped pitch. So indeed if you are running a 28P Bravo I the assumption is that it is a 27P so you would compare it to a 27P Hydro.

The reason I ask is because I am running a Labbed Bravo 1 28. I have a 26 Hydro with an hour or so test time from a previous boat, which I have not tried. I would like to run a labbed Hydro at @ the same RPM. Sounds like I would need to find a 27 Hydro and start with that.

Try the 28 Hydro before you buy another prop. You can afford to come down a little with your WOT rpm, to about 5000. The 28 Hydro may not be too far off. There are a lot of adjustments that can be made to the 28 Hydro to bring it up to 5000, if needed.
