4blade...5blade equivalent
26p b1 4 blade.. what 5 blade would this compare to? I'm considering a 5 blade and currently use a stock 26p 4blade b1.
Also 28p b1 blade.... in the 5 blade? I hope that made sense  |
Re: 4blade...5blade equivalent
As a general rule reduce the pitch by 1" for each added blade. In your case if we use 27 as he pitch of your Bravo 1 then you would need a 26 pitch 5 blade. The 26 Bravo would be replaced with a 24 5 blade.
For example, yesterday at the boat ramp, we were testing a 41 Velocity. We went from 30 pitch lab Bravo 1's to 27 pitch 5 blade P5X's (stock). The motors ran the same rpm and the boat ran about .5 mph faster with the 5 blade props. There are other factors such as diameter and whether or not your prop have been worked that need to be taken into account. Call if you have any other questions. Matt |
Re: 4blade...5blade equivalent
There are numerous factors that can come into play here. One inch of pitch is a basic rule of thumb. However with the Bravo 1 to Maximus conversion you actually change closer to 3 inches of stamped pitch if you stay at the 15 5/8" diameter.
With long hub series propellers, we do it slightly different. We tend to use diameter changes instead. There are reasons for that adjustment. it is taken on a application by application basis. |
