JimG,

Thanks for the offer! Where on the Hudson are you. We launch out of Stoney Point.

I have a friend that is asking the exact same question. The boat wants bow lift. It has a very high X and the drives are close together, (like a staggerd setup). It is a 35 Nordic step hull.
I think he would like to try a few different props, or buy some used ones in the 30-32 pitch range. May also be looking for used Herrings?

Hey Gordo,

The Hydro P5-X runs well on the Nordic 35. I have a few running them out there. Call me anytime.

I thought I might bring this thread back to the top.

This past Sunday OH-Zone and I got out on the water to do some prop testing.
I have a 1997 24' Super straight V, 502Mag, Bravo drive with the prop shaft 5" below the keel.
OH-Zone's boat is a 2006 30' Super, 525EFI, Bravo XR with ITS.

Anyway, my boat ran about 75mph @ 4800rpm with a stock 28p Bravo 1, but was real sensitive to trim; the "sweet spot" was small.
Now with my BBlades modified 28p B1 I have seen a best of 77mph at 4900rpm and the boat is less sensitive to trim. I'm a happy boater!

Then I had a chance to run OH-Zone's 5 blade Hydro that is a 25p P5-X modified to 25.6". I must say that prop is awesome!
It did feel like the boat had more stern lift but she still ran vary stable. The top speed was 75 @ 5100+rpm, I would bet that if the prop had been a true 26p and my engine ran a little less rpm, the top speed would have been the same as with my modified B1.

OH-Zone found that the P5-X was the fastest and best handling prop on his boat.

To my question, would my little 24' run well with a Merc Maximus?
I know, try it you might like it... :D

PE, have you tried a 5 blade on your boat again?

Re: Maximus vs. hydro px5

Pat,
Haven't had the chance to try a 5 blade. What was your cruise speed with the 5 blade?? I'm interested in the Maximus to see how much I gain at cruise. I cruise between 3700 and 4700. WOT are for short bursts. Sure top end is what everyone is looking for, but I'm willing to sacrifice a few up top to gain down low.

Besides, I can always carry a 4 blade for when there is a need for top end.

Re: Maximus vs. hydro px5

We didn't do much cruising... :D
With the 25.6p P5-X, 4000rpm was about 58mph.
With my 28p B1, 4000rpm was about 61mph.
Again if the P5-X had been a 26p, I believe the numbers would have been vary similar to the B1. On my boat anyway...

Gordo,

I am willing to bet that this is the Nordic with the Imco gear splitter and single quad rotor. Am I right? Do I win a prize :drink:
