Velocity 260 Prop
Just finished a simple 540 aprx 620 HP.. Nothing crazy
Used to run a Hydro 24 ( installed from the dealer) with the stock motor. (310hp 454) Currently I have a used Bravo 26 prop on the boat now just for testing. If I stick with the Bravo prop, I "think" a 28 Lab prop would work well. Should I go back to a Hydro prop? What about a 5 blade? I think Velocity ships with hydro's????? (if true, are they the best prop for that hull).. Top-end is not the major concern.. Time to plane, ride, ect are all factors. thanks John |
Re: Velocity 260 Prop
We have run Hydro's Mercs and Turbos on Steve's hulls. Test as many as you can and you will decide what works for you. We like a standard recipe Labbed Bravo 1 as the go to prop.

Re: Velocity 260 Prop
bbladesprops,
What should we test first? I would think a Hydro 28.. 4 or 5 blade? Where/How do I get a prop to test? Do we buy it, test it, return it, buy another???? |
Re: Velocity 260 Prop
John,
Having worked some the Velocity race boats, I can tell you that they do indeed run both styles of props. Many of the Velocity's have been delivered with Hydro QIV propellers. I think the 4B props are adequate for the boat and it really boils down to how the boat feels and what it is that you like. Post your current performance data with the 26P Bravo I and we can go from there. I do have some Hydro QIV's for testing. Julie |
Re: Velocity 260 Prop
Our testing procedure is simple and inexpensive. No strings attached and you don't have to buy anything.
We have all Bravo 1's some Hydro's and some Turbos to test with. |
Re: Velocity 260 Prop
I've got a VR-1 (290) and run a labbed 27 hydro clever with a little over 550hp at 5500 for 82 mph on gps.
Have tried labbed 28 bravo, labbed 30 bravo, non-labbed 27 round-ear hydro, but nothing else compares both on top end and cruise. |
