Looking on ebay for a prop and came across a 4 blade "Apollo" prop by Michigan Wheel.

Any good?

How will it work behind a 502 / bravo 1 in a single engine 27 fountain?

Its a Michigan wheel, and it is not a high tolerance propeller.

It's also less than half the price of a bravo 1 or revolution 4.

I'm going to be running less than 70 mph, with a relatively stock setup, and it's probably going to get banged up enough in the first season or two to need work anyway (lots of shallow water boating).

Is it a total POS, am i going to break blades or something? Can it handle my hp (400 if i'm lucky)?

Has anyone tried them? How do they compare performance wise? I read the comments about tolerances on michigan wheel props in another thread, if that's the only issue, i might give it a try.

If you plan on banging up the prop then the Apollo is not the prop you want. You want a prop that is common and easily repaired. Any high performance prop shop will have the pitch blocks for Mercury Mirage, Bravo 1, Rev 4, etc. These props can be repaired back to better than new with the proper pitch blocks. If you bang up your Apollo I doubt there will be pitch blocks on the market for a while. No prop shop is even going to buy them until they start seeing the props come through the shop for repair.

I doubt that prop will work very well behind your 27 Fountain.

With boating, like most anything else, you get what you pay for.

Sounds like you have a nice performance setup. Don't cut corners on a prop. Used Bravo's are very common and can be purchased for fairly cheap, plus would work a whole lot better on your boat.

Problem is i have a 1.36 drive. I'm looking for a 20" 4 blade, if i can find one. I'm currently running a 21" mirage +, it does okay but it's not quite dialed in. I had a 19" behind it, i was spinning more RPM than i want (5200) and i'm getting more speed with the 21" at 4500 rpm than i was with the 19" at 5200.

Mercury has the Rev 4 in a 19P which is the equivlent to a 20P 3B.
Power Tech Propeller makes a few 4B that may work. ( Like the SFS )

I have actually heard a few good reports on the Apollo propellers but, it was on outboards. We have actually not worked on any of them yet.

We do love the Revolution 4 propeller. It will work on your hull quite well. It is 1/2" to 5/8" larger in diameter than the Apollo you are talking about and will most likely give you better all around performance.

I really don't think you can buy one for less than 1/2 price of what we sell Rev 4's for. If you wish to test the Revolution 4, please give us a call.

I want a revolution 4, but given everything else that i've been spending money on lately, i don't think i can afford a new one. I just spent too much money on my dash, my trailer, and now my coupler.

The Apollo prop i was looking at was at $229 on ebay when i posted. An internet search showed prices generally under $300. What does a new rev 4 go for?
