Best Set-up for 38 Donzi Daytona???

I have 2002 Donzi 38 Daytona with BMax drives with a 1.43 ratio and want to know what would be better turning in vs. out and what type and pitch prop? I have played with Bravo 26P 4 blades, 28P 4 blade and 30P 4 blades and not quite getting the performance I want. Any suggestions?

It depends. It's more stable turning out but a little faster turning in. Turning in, the boat will have a greater tendency to spin in a hard turn.

What power do you have. What is your speed and rpm?

I have Innovation Marine 650HP (Twin) WOT is about 5400rpm 5600 is close to rev limiter. Speed is about 83-84mph full tank with 2 to 6 people and on glass/1ft chop.

With which propellers are you getting the above?

The 28P Bravo 1's and I believe they are turning out (Couter Clockwise). I posted alot more info under the General Q & A thread "Anyone have BMax drives?"

With 1.43 gears, running 28P Bravo I's at 5400 RPM at WOT at 83.5 = 14% slip.

This is within the normal range of 10-14%.

What are your goals?

More speed! I know I can do better. I just need a little help finding that right combination. With so many props out there I am not sure where to start other than the Bravos I have already tried.

I think you should try some 5B props. The prop efficiency should be lower and I think you may possibly pick up some speed. YOu will have better hole shot, cruise speed and accleration will be improved. If you want to stick with your 4B rpops then you could lab finish a set of 30P Bravo I props.

Ok seems like everyone is saying try 5 blade props. Now which one. Mercury Maximus or Herring or do you recommend another? but I hear that Herring 5B tend to crack and the 6B hold together better. So which 5B and pitch should I start with??? Thanks again for your help Julie.

I have run the P5-X with Donzi themselves and the boats respond well to them. Most of my clients will run the props stock as well. I have some test props if your interested in trying them before buying a set.
