Easier to pitch up or down?

I currently have 3 props and none of them spin exactly where I want them. The boat is an '88 Baja Sunsport 196 with a 400HP 383 SBC and an Alpha SS drive. I want to get right at 5000 RPMs. So far the best one is the labbed 25P at 71.2 MPH with 2 people onboard.

Mirage Plus 23P - 5200 RPM
Mirage Plus 25P - 4700 RPM
Bblades labbed MP 25P - 4800 RPM

Which one should I get reworked?

Re: Easier to pitch up or down?

Getting the biggest pitch possible of the correct design and geometry to turn the highest rpm is the trick. That's why we are good at what we do. Taking our 25 and determining if we can get more would be my suggestion, not de-pitching it.

Your at 6% slip so we have that right on or better. We can get the 200 more rpm but the slip will climb some what and the speed may only grow a very little. We begin to walk a fine line. If we de-pitch the propeller the rpm comes up but the forward travel per revolution goes down and you end up at the same top speed. If rpm is the only concern, no problem.
