Bravo 1 test results
Ran a set of Bravo-1's this morning courtesy of ScottC (Thanks!). Got back just before the rain started again. Results were pretty much what I expected going in, they are too much prop for the boat but do have much better mid range and low speed bite.
Boat: 32' Scorpion CC (est 8000#) Motors: Yamaha TXXR250 (carb) X 2 Normal props: 21" Yamaha saltwater series 3B Test Props: 22" Bravo 1 (pre-vent hole set) Weather: 80 degrees 80% humidity Water: flat (the boat really likes some chop to run) Speeds: GPS RPM / Yamaha 3B speed / Bravo-1 4B speed - comments 1000 / 6.5 / 7.2 - can't run in no wake under 6 mph with either set on both motors, need to idle around on just one (they will idle slower but load up if kept there too long) 3500 / ** / 35 - the 3B's won't run between 3000 and 4000 as they keep blowing out. Being able to run in the 3-4k range is one of the things I want from new props for maneuvering through traffic 4000 / 35 / 40 - big speed advantage in mid range just as you would expect 5000 / 49 / 52 - still a good speed advantage, but 5000 is all the Bravo 1's will pull 5400 / 54 / ** Around 4000 RPM the Bravo 1 definately feels like it wants to bow steer unless you trim out much further. The Bravo 1 will hold a LOT more trim than the 3B, but it also needs much more trim to pull the RPM. I hope to test a set of 21" Rev-4's in a couple weeks. -Greg |
