Finding drive gear ratio on Bravo I

I have a 2001 280 Powerquest Silencer w/502 MAG MPI and was playing around with Mercury's prop selector web site http://appcenter.mercurymarine.com/propSelector , but one question it's asking is the drive gear ratio on my Bravo I? I have all the paperwork for the power package, but can't find my drive ratio. Any thoughts?

Re: Finding drive gear ratio on Bravo I

It's probably a 1.5 ratio. Check the tag on the side of the upper drive unit and it should be stamped on it.

If in doubt about the accuracy of the tag you can put the drive in gear, rotate the engine and count the number of engine rotations for one prop rotation. The number of engine revolutions per prop shaft revolutions is your gear ratio.
