28 bravo 1's tapping the limiters

just picked up a 1999 353 formula fastec with twin 502 mpi's, extension boxes, and 28 b-1's and in 50 degree weather here in Jersey was tapping the limiters at 5150-5200rpms...suggestions

Congrats on the new boat.

If they are just tapping the limiters you are just right. In the summer the rpm should be right where it needs to be.

What kind of numbers are you seeing?

I'd agree. As soon as it gets humid come summer, and you put all of your gear, coolers, passengers, and fuel on the boat; you will be right where you need to be.

If you could get a handheld GPS it would help. If you are hitting the rev limiter and your slip is high, then maybe theirs a problem. But like already said your probably very close to where you need to be prop wise.

Stop being a pu$$y with the new boat. Disconnect the rev limiter and hammer down like it was your old OB :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Re: 28 bravo 1's tapping the limiters

#1 wait till its warm up if it only drops 50 or100 rpm try labbed 30s. or#2 take the boat south for a long weekend and try it, borrow a pair of 30s or call bblades they have a testing props thing which, I will use in the spring for my boat. I think you pay the shipping for the props until you get it close then buy and lab to your needs .you may pick up more speed with labbed 30s at 4950 to 5000 then the stock 28s at5100 to 5200 if your hitting the limiters you might be running 5300 or 5400 without them which means the 30s then would be more like 5100. its a good deal with there borrow return and theres always the merc 5 blades to try with the boxes on there,
