Prop selection for the 190 Sea ray
I just picked up a 1998 190 Sea Ray Signature with the 350 in it to play with. It was a good deal so I figured why not. I took it for a water test yesterday and I was actually a little disappointed by the performance. I figured it would be pretty fast, but all I could get out of it was 42mph(non GPS) at about 4600-4700. It has an aluminum prop on it now and I know I will have to go to stainless. The boat felt like it needed some lift. I could not seem to trim it up out of the water...as the motor would trim up it the boat would come up slightly and then begin to cavitate. I was thinking a 21P Mirage, but was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. I am not sure of the drive ratio, yet as I have not seen it out of the water. Anyone know what the max RPM should be for a 1998 350? Thanks guys

Re: Prop selection for the 190 Sea ray
To get good answers, you have to give better info.
Is it a 5.7, 350mag or what????? Your WOT RPM range should be right on top of the cowl. You will need to know the rpm, gear ratio, current prop, and GPS speed. Also, you said you have not seen it out of the water. Dirty Bottom????????? Fo reference sake, I had a 196br Crownline with a 350mag/260hp that went about 57-58mph and a friend had a 210br Sea Ray with same hp that ran about 52mph. |
Re: Prop selection for the 190 Sea ray
Once you determine some more information, The Mirage Plus line should work very well for you.
