Re: prop loose
Julie,
The sleeve feels fine. Seems the brass spline which goes into the steel sleeve is loose, not just side to side but crossways too. Ill try another one and see how it works...thank you. |
Re: prop loose
Couldn't log in last night to offer some help.
I know what is wrong. There some machining issues that have occured in the last year with the hub assemblies. Grind 1/8" off the front of the aft adapter and you will be fine. This would be the non-castle-ated side of the brass splined piece. If you have a problem getting this done, let us know and we'll do it for free. Just give me call and we'll make the arrangements. |
Re: prop loose
It's easier for most peopler to sand or cut the delrin sleve a little than the aft adapter. The end result is the same.

Re: prop loose
Yes and no on the easier part.
If you grind Delrin, it will partially melt too as you grind. You then must clean out the risidual Delrin material from the ID and the OD of the bushing. A good Xacto knife will help here. Cutting the 1/8" it will require a hack saw and will also have some clean up. It is easy to create a angled cut if you don't take your time. Make sure you reinsert the bushing the correct way. It is a tapered fit with a correct up and down side. It is also supposed to be a interferance fit but sometimes the tolerances are off. Grinding 1/8" off the aft adapter on a 18" wheel by a some one who has done numerous pieces is quick, easy and looks professional. Quick, easy and no clean up. Any way, whatever works for you is great! I wasn't sure you guys knew what was going on here from the first few post. The offer still stands if you need help. |
Re: prop loose
I dont see how machining wither piece will help. Unless I take a 1/2 inch plus off so the prop nut presses all togehter.. It l feels like the splines which mate the sleeve and cooper have gotton bigger and dont fit well.

Re: prop loose
When you are in the area bring the prop and all the prop mounting hardware by and we will get it figured out for you.
Before you come by take the prop off the shaft and put just the aft adapter on the prop shaft, make sure it slides all the way on. |
