Trottle-Up's Barracuda Propeller

Throttle-Up Propellers has announced a new line of propellers with a radical new design that promises to become the standard for racing applications.
The new “Barracuda” propeller is a combination cleaver – round ear six blade with alternating blade type and diameters mounted on a can hub. In back-to-back comparison testing, the Barracuda has produced 2 mph increases in top speeds over the conventional six-blade design. The Barracuda was developed by Matt Croce and his Throttle-Up staff to give improved mid-range and top end performance. During testing, the propellers show that they act like two separate types of propeller at different speed ranges. At mid range engine speeds (3000-4000 rpm) the propeller acts like a mild mannered guppy improving ride comfort without the need for increased trim. Throw the throttle forward and the Barracuda transforms from the mild mannered guppy to predator attack mode. As speed increases, the clever blades lift the stern of the boat reducing wetted surface and accompanying drag. With three blades working to carry the bow, and three blades lifting the stern, the result is higher top end speed, lower propeller “slip” numbers and better control. This is one impressive propeller design…producing very impressive performance results. |
Thank you Ken. I am very pleased with the results on your boat thus far....but we have got to get you out of the Rev. So we are going to build you a taller pitch. Lets see how much more speed we can get out of her! I would think 1.5-2 MPH at least! And lets not run additional weight this time, I really want to see what she does at weight....now that we know how she does heavy!

Julie, 2000 388 slingshot, spinning in Ken Bowen's 15 1/2 x 32 five blade herrings off of his 38 zr donz. I think they were massaged by callabela. 5,500-5,600 netting 96-97 gps mph. Had to install diffusser rings on due to not being able to get boatb on plane.Would like a little more bow lift. Would these Barracuda's work.

Don't mean to interupt the conversation. We have done alot of 388's. Be carefull of big diameter multi blade props when the power gets int the 800's and the speed breaks triple digits. The boat can get very unstable and even dangerous without the correct X and propellers. The boat was designed to run in the 80-90 mph range. It will run big numbers but it takes some dialing. We have 2 in the upper 130's.

Hi Julie that prop looks sweet , it was mentioned at the fountains booth that your new cnced props ran as well if not better than herrings cant wait to get my 31 pitch barracudas please post any new stats

Yes, it's true Fountain has been doing testing with our props and they are the fastest props they have tested. Faster than Hering, by a little, and much faster than the best Maximus props they have ever tested.
They have been testing our regular 6 blade props, not the Barracuda props. You should expect to see our props on other OEM boats as well. |

No, the Barracuda prop would make things worse for you with your current boat set up. Matt |
