Watch out for the prop guy

Does anyone out there know Mike from HALLS PROPS down in Christmas Fl, If so be careful. He has 2 herring 5 blade props & 2 hydromotive 4 blades that belong to customers of mine that he has had since sept. 06 & he cashed the check I wrote him for the repair of these props. I am out a few thousand $$ right now. This is a warning to everyone out there. If anyone can help please contact me.

Somebody in the boat biz ripping somebody else off???? Say it ain't so!!!!

Sorry to hear about that. I have heard of the guy. A buddy of mine went in there to buy a prop and he was a real "Richard". He won't go back after the experience he had.

I know the shop, and where it is... about 30 minutes from me. I have heard he does good work. I have never had hom do anything for me though so its not from personal experience that i have heard about him.

I just left a message w/ a friend that knows Mike. I'm sure he'll get the message. I saw Mike this weekend at The Miami Boat Show (in the water w/a 39 Velocity). Call Steve Stepp he can probally help you.

I can see you are a new member so welcome, but why did you post this in the bilge? There are some other sections that might be better for you with more exposure, good luck.

From what I understand I'm not the only one out there this has happened to. I hate to hurt the guys buisness but that was an awful big hit on my part. What would be a better place to post a thread on this subject?

CigDaze 02-21-2007 08:37 AM

Here's a thread from a couple years ago, it's along the same lines. Mixed opinions.

You are not the first!

I sent you a PM.

Matt

You are not the first. He has my new prop and I paid him the money to have it labbed, have not seen it since. That has been over 3 years!! He also has 2 props from a friend of mine. I have a judgement against him but nothing to show for it.. STAY AWAY.....

protec1 02-21-2007 11:35 AM

One thing I will say is the work he has done in the past for me has been excellent. But if you can't get the props back it does no good. I'm thinking about renting a banner plane for the next Velocity race event about this guy instead of paying a lawyer to handle this problem. A little more enjoyment on my part.

Young Performance 02-21-2007 01:38 PM

I used him several years ago for a P5 Hydro. He had the prop for over 6 months. It took countless phone calls and many threats of excessive bodily injury to get it back. Oh, and when I did get it back, it was a POS. Eddie

Don't know the prop guy but I know Joe at Protec. He is a stand up guy,and if he says someone did him wrong, you can take that to the bank, someone did him wrong.

another reason to give your prop business to Matt and Julie at Throttle Up in St. Petersburg, FL. They are honest people that do really really excellent work. They did the props on my Concept and I really want them to do the 3 props for my 38 Fountain CC. They also do a lot of race teams props. Plus Throttle Up are supporters of Offshore Only.

Maybe, but he speaks the truth!:drink:

FeverMike 02-22-2007 07:44 PM

Nope no suckazz, I have spent money with Throttle up before and every local guy and other know they are the best and most honest in the business. I will return to Throttle for prop work when and if I go that route again.

If other business in the marine industry and around Tampa ran there business and customer service like Throttle up and the local Fountain dealer Sports USA Marine they might get return customers.

Gordo 02-22-2007 11:24 PM

I've been to a number of races with Mike over the years. Nice guy. I've seen some of his props and they performed really well.
That being said, he still owes me for a room in the Bahamas a few years ago.

protec1 02-23-2007 06:10 PM

Good luck getting anything out of him. I hope Mike's got his ears open. I want my props back. Let me rephrase that. I want my customers props back. I've had someone speak to Steve Step about this with no luck. I can't believe that people even want to be associated with that @#*% from halls props. I'm just trying to get the word out.

protec1 03-05-2007 10:05 AM

I got my props back. thank you mike & anyone else out there who helped with this problem.

THEJOKER 03-05-2007 10:21 AM

Good deal!

throttleup 03-06-2007 10:47 AM
