Spinning in vs spinning out - 25 feet offshore hull

It seems to that I have spunned my props outward last summer om my Phantom 25 with twin merc 2.5 EFI's.

I felt the boat was running very flat and high, and it needed lots of positive trim. However, I only managed to test two different kind of props (Mirage Plus 27 and Bravo One 28).

Spinning in should create better bowlift and free up the hull. The downside can be a more unstable ride and problems docking.

The Phantom 25 is very weight sensitive and bowheavy. So I wonder how much gain I will get spinning in. On bigger V hulls 1-2 mph I have read.

I will use ET 28 pitch props this summer.

Any experiences out there?

You're right on.

With your hull, the dock manners shouldn't be all that bad.

Thanks Brett! The spinning out situation explaines the handling of the boat last summer. Running very flat and high on the transom. So I expect the boat to run higher with the bow using less trim this summer spinning in (and with more rpms).

Since I have to shift in gear, I use one engine in forward and one reverse (using the ignition only) when docking. So I do do not expect so big problems at the docks.

Since this is a straight V hull without steps of any kind, how will the boat turn with the props turning in? Last year turning out I could approach a 90 degree turn in 80 mph without any problem. Just let off the inner engine a bit, and use the outer engine pulling the turn. I was suprised of the great handling with twins, but the boat originally was designed for twins running offshore races in Europe 70-90 ties.

I will put over the order for the ET's very soon. My wife is rebuilding her chopper motorbike, so thats getting sorted now :drink:
