Dumb Question?
 

When I change the hub from brovo 1 to xr to fit my xr drive do I grease the outside of the hub and the 4 rubber pieces that fit between the hub and the inside surface of the prop?

Pop the hub out and wipe out the housing and install the new sleeve.

About to install new Flo-torqs into a brand new set of props. Besides the propshaft splines (which grease BTW?), should anything else be lubed before assembly?

To get the new xr hub in the bravo 1 prop there are 4 rubber sticks on the coners of the hub-I used a little vasaline to slide the hub in-would not work otherwise-do these rubber pieces need to be replaced everytime you change the hub? As for which grease and what to grease I am going to wait on a response since I do not have a clue!

I use merc's 101.

Use the same grease you use on the splines of the prop shaft. A little grease inside the hub cavity will prevent corrosion. Just use a small amount of grease in the hub cavity, just a light coating.

The snubber strips in the XR hub do not need to be replaced every time you remove the hub. If you are having a problem with the snubber strips coming off Gorilla Glue works well to attach them to the hub. There is a snubber kit from Mercury and it comes with 4 snubbers and double sided tape to fasten them to the hub.

OK, for those who care (even the "pro's") There is no need to lube the delrin strips on the XR hub, in fact, don't do it.

It is important on the SS flo T 2 installs to use lube however. (non HD)

On the FT2 standard SS, use anything you have. Bio degradable is fine, 101 or litheium or my favorite, 2-4-C will do the trick.

We tried so many things in the early 90's to get the darn strips to stay on the HD inserts you wouldn't believe it! (call me if you want the whole story) Finally the 3M CO. tape helped. Still, the tape will only last for so long. We have tricks to work from there. The strips will crack if you don't have them in the right place when you install the hub.
