01 29 fever prop ?

OK just got done doing edelbrock ported heads, roller rockers, lightning headers, and programmed PCM. I had a 24 bravo 1 stock that turned 5100 all day. After the upgrades I moved up to a hydromotive 27 and can barely get 5000 @70 mph. Rev limiter is set at 5300 and was wondering what gains I would see from having rpm put into prop or just move down to a 26. Will 300 RPM make a big difference on a modded 502 mag EFI? Just curious what you guys think. Thanx!

How fast were you with the B1 24 @ 5100 rpm?
Going up 3' of pitch is roughly reducing 600 rpm if you are comparing apples to apples.... but you are not, ... the B1 is a bow rasing prop and the QIV is a transom raiser.

I never ran the 24 with the new heads etc.

Whats your gear ratio?

Julie

Boomer35 07-09-2007 10:31 AM

what about a 2001 29' fountain that used to be a race boat, carborated 500HP, 1.5 ratio XR, or might be an XZ, gutted cabin.. ive tried 4 props now, none were too impressive

lilredboat 07-09-2007 12:58 PM

gear ratio is 1.5. Thanx again Julie for your help on the solid hub conversion, you are the bomb! So you think you guys can get 300 rpm out of it and do you think it will help? 70 seems kinda low to me just curious.

lilredboat 07-09-2007 01:00 PM

If it matters I have a very high X dimension only low water pickups on drive and sucks getting on plane.

lilredboat 07-10-2007 09:28 PM

anyone..........anyone..........

Boomer35 07-12-2007 07:17 AM

my X demension is 19.5, which is high, i run a 26 pitch bravo labbed which ran way better then the 26 pitch hyrdo i tried, im thinking a 28 bravo might be the ticket, the 26 pitch bravo i have might be for sale soon if your interested

Thanks!

It is not wise to try to get that much RPM out of a Hydro...could lead to catastrophic failure. Is your 27P stock or labbed?

Julie

If you did not change the cam, your engine is probably only making 50HP over stock.
Try a 26p B1 and I would not expect to run more than 3mph faster than she did before the engine mods.

It is a stock 27 hydro, I already got about 4 mph better from stock, but I just want my rpms up a little more do you think I could get 200rpm out of it??

bbladesprops 07-12-2007 10:40 PM

Concider working with the B1 propellers if you wish to go into Labbing.

The Q4 propellers work well as is, if they work to begin with in the application in question. Interesting how times change as well as learning curves and getting 300 out of a hydro Q4 isn't such a good idea anymore (just kidding).

Run a 28 B1 and get some base line numbers. Then determine if a special Lab recipe is a option or if backing off the pitch or different geometry is the best idea.

you think i would spin a 26 B1 too high?

I have a bud with a 29' Fountain powered by at 525sc.
He runs a LH 26p B1 and has run a best of 75mph @ 5200rpm.

lilredboat 07-13-2007 10:22 AM

so is the concensus a 26 or 28 B1, I think Ill try a 26 and see where Im at. Anyone have 1?

bbladesprops 07-13-2007 11:01 AM

We have test propellers available in 26 B1's.

$20 plus shipping, no strings attached.

lilredboat 07-13-2007 01:13 PM

do u have any solid hub ones?

bbladesprops 07-13-2007 05:42 PM

Yes, hub are interchangeable (is that spelled right?)
