Dyno sheet HP/Tq prop rpm?

Based on a dyno sheet how do you know what the best rpm to prop a motor at? Max HP is at 5700 and max torque is at 4300, torque and hp are close to equal at around 5300.

I was told you take your best torque # and add 1200 rpms to that rpms and that's going to be your best speed.

I would recommend propping at 5700 ish RPM. But we should really take a look at the specific Dyno for a solid recommendation.

We would need to look at the dyno sheet.

There is sometimes misconceptions of max HP and propping it there. HP growths over the last few hundred rpm can make the decision.

Without looking at the sheet I would guess 5500.

i wish I had the sheet in electronic form but I don't. There is not mux change in Hp between 5700 and 6000, around 7 hp.

bbladesprops 07-26-2007 02:41 PM

5700 to 6000 goes down 7 hp?

What is the difference between 5500-5700?

tssteph 07-26-2007 02:43 PM

yes, 14 hp between 5500 and 5700.

FYI, HP and torque are equal at 5250. That's why 5250 is used as a constant in calculating HP from torque and RPM.

This concludes the Public Service Announcment. :cool-smiley-011:
