Diffuser ring remaoval? Why?

Why would you remove the diffuser ring?

Maybe a few more rpms (50-100) and a very small speed increase. removing them may cause problems getting on plane and reduces bow lift.

That has been our experience as well on stern drive applications.

How does the diffuser ring effect the potential for or ability to control chine walking at high trim out angles and WOT?

Actually removing the diffuser can help with bow lift.
