30 Cat Running 40mph @ 7000rpm... and thats GPS Speeds!
This is the grey area, Its a 30 ft Canopied cat made by Lightning from a Spectre splash (I think) Than the hull was re-worked..
I bought the boat as a Hull and rigged it with a set of 2.5/260 EFI OSR. Motors. I dont have much time to do testing so each change takes a week and I'm running out of race season and summer too.
It was run 1 1/2 Inch above bottom with a set of 2.5/280's with Sportmaster lowers, so thats were I started with a set of 2.5 260's with a CLE Lower and a Stock lower with a Bob's cone.
Today with these settings I ran a wopping 39mph at 7000rpm with a set of 3 Blade 30's thats a 66% SLIP..OUCH
Should I just bolt the engines up as low as possible and just work up? I'm going to also try a set of 4 Blade 28's, I'm I going in the right direction?
Any Help would be appreciated

Huh?
I think you have two different cases now? Is that right? Why?
We have done a ton of set up on Pilini's hulls. Your X is real close for most sets. Within a 1/8-1/4". Rotation is key!
However, something is seriously wrong with the numbers. Even with different cases.
Where did you get the props?
Try some different props.

I'm guessing the previous owner who I bought the motors from broke or some how fried one CLE Lower and replaced it with a cheaper Stock lower w/bobs low water pick up.
I'll be trying a set of 4 Blade cleavers this weekend. The props came from Bob of Reliable Carriers race team, so they should be good.

What gear ratio?? I've had the best luck with 3-blade Merc 15X32 cleavers on the 30' Spectres. 4 of them in our group in Havasu, all wound up running best with those wheels and at 1.5 above the bottom. All have sportmaster lowers though, with 1.62 gears. One in the group is a triple 2.5 with CLE's and I think 1.75 gears. 30 on the outers there, and a 32 on the center.
Seems as though those boats don't handle as well with 4-blades, from my experience anyway.

It seems that something is obvoiusly wrong but when resolved you may want to give me a call. Our NEW CNC Outboard cleavers are running very strong to date. Food for thought.

The boats typically run better with 3 blades.
Most 2.5 gear cases run 1.87 gears.
Most 3 litre motors run 1.75 gears.
