Better bow lifting prop
whats a better bow lifting prop tempest or mirage plus, i have a new 30' concept single step hull with opti spinning out. i have tried bravo's but it was two mph slower than the mirage plus.
|
They are similar in their bow carrying attributes. The tempest will sometimes be faster with light loads and the Mirage is less weight sensitive.
If you need more than 23 inches of pitch, you are forced to go to the M+. I would run the M+ customized in your application. |
i have tried the 23 tempest, 24 bravo and 25 mirage plus, i got chine walking from the tempest

whats you think about a rev 4

Thanks Mark,
Have you heard from richard |
Try the Mirage + and let BBlades do their magic on them. I was running 25" Mirage + that had been labbed by some one else. I thought they were running pretty good. I've got a 34' deep V with staggered engines. I had been running about 11-12% slip at WOT.
Then I hit some rocks:violent-smiley-045:. Bret said to send them up to see if he could repair them. He did and they are better than ever. I have not had a chance to run wide open yet, but I hit 60 mph 250rpm sooner, with only 5% slip! I expect to have added a few mph on top end as well. Nice job Brett. |
I like the mirage + the only thing is that im only able to turn them to 5300 trimmed, my engines wot is 5750, i know i can get the wot going down a pitch, but i will loose my midrange. with the 23 i get 39-40 at about 4k rpms with the 25+ im able to be at 46 - 47 at about 4k rpms. so i dont want to loose that, and most probably my top end would be the same.
|
Talk to Brett. See how many rpms he thinks he can get you.
I have not got to WOT yet, (my wife was with me and 60 mph was fast enough for her). But at 4000rpm I am running 60mph. That's only 5% slip and 250 rpms better tthan before he repaired my props. 25" Mirage Pluses. |
bblades any suggestion??
|
We should be able to get close to 300 rpm out of the propeller.
I would try rotating your propellers inward. |
bblades
Is there anyway i can do that with out dropping the lower units, ?can i just swap the props? at 5600 with 24 bravo's i get 61.2 trimmed and the 25 mirage 63.9 to 64.2 at 5300 rpms trimmed with the 23 tempest at 5800 i get 64.but i get chine walking. hope this info helps. |
those numbers are turning out.with that extra 300 rpms how much speed increase would that increase.
|
Because the clutch dog engagement is different with outboards and not as strong in reverse, I wouldn't suggest just switching the propellers from engine to engine. You really need to swap the cases. This is a pretty simple operation for any marine mech.

by doing this would should i try with a smaller pitch prop or same 25 would be the ok. how much does 300 rpms equal to speed. |
Your props will work great for the experiment and because the attitude of the boat will change, the R's may come up some too (they should).
300 rpm can give 0-5+ mph depending on the efficiancy of the set up. |
