These props are a little brother to the Tempest Plus propeller. Actually designed more for OB's than stern drives since the blade area is smaller as well as the diameter.

The metal does not make the props more efficiant. The design of the prop makes it more efficiant. Rake angle, pitch progression and thickness are the reasons for the improvement.
One thing that has to be remembered, not every boat will see better acceleration or top end with these props. Actually, boats that ran 24-26 Tempest Plus propellers (or similar models) "may" see better performance.

Brett, Does this unique Rake angle, Pitch progression and Thickness require the new material ? Assuming those features do require the new material,then doesn't the new material Participate in the over all efficiency ?
I've wondered if Inconel or Titanium could serve as material for more rigidity,thinner blades and less blade flex.

First, the materials you are suggesting are cost prohibative.
Second, these new designs do not "require" the new material, it is thought (marketed) that the prop will withstand the loads better. I haven't seen data of extensive testing either way to support that.
The design could be done with standard 15-5 SS as used in other propellers. In fact, the Labbing process creates thinner and more accurate thicknesses than can be produced in this new design in a production arena. The point is, the Enertia and Fury give you a thinner prop for a smaller price tag. Heat treating will harden standar 15-5 or 17-4 stainless (like the props you guys race) but other costs are incurred. These props are mainline stock offerings. Remember, marketing is involved here.
I was still at Merc when the X7 material was being developed. The initial thought process was a stronger material to prevent the cracking we were experiencing. We learned a old production process we were using was to blame as much as the material. X7 was developed anyways and is stronger than the standard 15-5 so, market that way and create designs that may improve performance.
