Pantera 28 F1 Prop Recommendation
3 Attachment(s)
I am just finishing rigging my 2003 28 Pantera with the F1 layout. It has a single 530 HP @ 5,300 RPM Dyno'd 502 with the notch transom Bravo 1 LWP and without the full cabin (recreational stuff) and a minimized liner and custom layup. This boat runs about 1,000 pounds less than a pleasure single version from what I have heard.
I will be adding a little weight back in compared to a true F1 with some minimal cabin cushions/carpet and a aluminim swim platform. Previously I'm told the boat ran 93-94 with a 750 HP 540 blower motor and a 32 labbed B1 four blade. I did a historical search in Prop Talk but did not find any other similar Pantera situations. What prop(s) should I be trying as I get this out for testing this spring? I have a Bravo 1 4 blade 26 and a Hydromotive 25 4 blade to start based on some factory recommendations. I assume 5,300 should be my target max RPM? Thanks! Mike |
You have 2 excelent props to try. This will give you the baseline to determine if altering one of those props is the best decision or whether going to a different brand is a good option.

When I got my boat, it had a 26p bravo on it, with a breathed on 525SC. I was getting around 5,200 rpms with that prop. My boat is probably 800# heavier than yours (if I recall what Jo told me correctly) so you'll get more rpm out of a similar prop.

I would bet 28 Bravo 1 prop will be real close.

Mike,
If your HP peaks at 5300 rpm, consider using a rev lim chip at 5400 rpm. No sense spinning up there if there is nothing to gain. Carder |
OK great, thanks everyone .....
Griff, that would be awesome but do you really think I can spin that tall of a prop 5,300 on a 28 single 530HP ?? seems tall ..... why do you think a 28 B1 ? |
