Question on Bravo Pitch stamping

I have a labbed Bravo 1 30p prop...atleast thats what the numbers in the casting say. However, 32 is hand stamped right next to the 30p cast in number. Qeustion is has this been repitched to a 32? If so does merc repitch props in their labbing process?

Yes, no, maybe so.

Is the stamped 32 on the side of the exhaust barrel or on the inner hub? Can you post a picture?

It looks like our old Mercury Racing stamping. Look inside the barrel by the prop nut. There should also be a hand stamped serial number consisting of letters and numbers.

The prop was most likely slightly bent, and then up pitched in the trailing edge in the exact location with the exact amount of cup to make the prop react as a 32 pitch would.

bblades, I checked out the serial number and it is J00G462 and it is stamped 32 in the hub also...actually I never even looked there until today. So I guess I am running a 32?

Hoozeyurdaddy, It has a 575sci which is stock except for a kick up in the rev limiter. Bravo XR 1.5/1 drive. I am thinking of adding a cone but havent researched it much. I am hitting 93 @5400, my calculations my slip is high @ 14% (or my prop is more like a 31).

Jrider,
I have a hard time concentrating while reading your posts! Why is that??? LOL

Your props were built in mid 2000. I was at Mercury Racing at the time. What I mentioned above, is exactly what was done. Because a substantial amount of cup was added you can use 31 as the actual pitch. This will put your actual slip number at 12%. This is good

thanks bblades...that is good info right from the source. Yeah, I keep waiting for those bra splitters to pop out but they never do...almost hipnotic. I plan on adding some boost / HP and have picked up a merc labbed 34 bravo 1. Hopefully I can pull it. Do you have any thoughts on running a cleaver? tunnel tabs? nose cone?

bbladesprops 04-03-2008 07:24 PM

I like the Bravo's as the best all around option. Cleavers may give the best top speed in the right conditions with a ultra light load. Tunnel tab if you need it. Nose cones can be over rated. If your slip is high or you blow the props out at high speed....maybe.
