Props Turning In/Out for Planing?
As I am waiting for Bblades to work on my props, I have a set of Hydro QuadIVs that I borrowed. Problem is I can't get on plane with them. I had used them before I went with shorties and they worked fine. My question is if I changed them to rotate outward will they get me on plane easier? This is just for several weekends until I get my props back. Thanks.

My boat blows out much easier turning outward.
It will blow them out turning inward also, if you push it too hard. I have found through much experimenting, with both my 4 blades, and the 5 blades, is that if you don't let the rpms exceed 3200 rpms, while coming on plane, it comes up every time, no matter what the load in the boat is, without any blowout. It does seem like it takes a little longer to get on plane, but at least you're getting on plane, without any worries. |

I'll give these props another try this weekend. I know I tried everything with the P5Xs when I had the difuser ring taken off and no go. So, the difuser ring goes back on. I just would like these props to work in the mean time. The engine builder was doing some drive maintenance and said he had to idle 10 miles to bring back to my dock because he couldn't get it on plane with the stock Quad IVs.

I would think you could get it up with the Hydros if you take it easy, sometimes it works if you try less tab and ease them off as you begin to come over. A lot of times too much tab can cause the stern to be pushed up causing the loss of bite to the props. How did he end up 10 miles out if he couldn't get it on plane at all? Have you tried the boat with the Hydros yourself yet? |
I haven't tried it yet, but I am going out today to see what happens. I didn't have problems with Bravos. I have always used Hydros with my other boats, but I know the x dim is a little high on this one.
