Herring Props Worth the $
I am always looking at different props to see what they might do or not do on my particular setup. I have heard plusses and minuses about Herrings and never really considered them, but I called this week to get some information. The props are $1700/each for a 5 blade for my application. What have people experienced? Will I experience enough of a difference over my P5Xs, labbed by Brett?
I did speak to Brett this week and would like to try the Precisioin Props when he has some to test. |
Most boats they will give you 2-4 mph over a labbeb merc prop. My boat ran 87 with labbed Merc 32 Bravos and 90mph with Herrings.
Warning. Getting on plane is a mother with Herrings |
what size are you looking for?

Sorry about that :D, I believe the only set are bolted on my propshafts. I will tell you that in my application these Precisions right out of the box are the hands down winners of the prop test deal. I'm waiting on a set of 32s which Brett is going to do some lab work on, and hopefully raise the number even more. I really like these props, they're fast and very solid feeling at speed. The mid range cruise is nice as well. |

When I spoke with Dave at Herring and discussed my applicaiton, he said that I should be running a 33 tall prop? This seemed a little big? Althought, not familiar with Herrings.
Ragged Edge - Brett thought that I would be running about the same size prop that you are. Since I want to spin them about 5800, he suggested going with the 30s non-labbed to get a comparison aganist my current prop, P5X (31 labbed). He did say that if I decided to go with the Precision Prop, that a labbed 32 would probably be the way to go. |
