prop play

one of my Bravo props has play in it,I thought it was the hub so I replaced it,still have about 1/2 inch play back and forth,I can see the prop shaft and nut not moving .
possiable bad prop?

Hey Tom....was thinking....could it be that the insides of the prop itself is damaged? worn out so to speak??

Do you have the correct thrust washer behind the prop????

thanks for the reply,
the boat has twins and both thrust washers look the same, cant tell if there worn,

does anybody have a picture of a prop set up with the hardware for a 2003 bravo 1 they can post?
not sure if I'm missing anything

I would take the prop off and look to see if you have the black composite hub. They will crack and come apart causing prop to be loose and then slip

I also wonder if the insert is Delrin? If it is it could be cracked. If not, either stainless insert could be missing the snubber strips and there could be some play. However, 1/2" sounds extreme.

it has the steel hubs and all 4 snubbers are in place,it almost
feels like the nut is not tight, but it is

I was told to crind the brass insert down a little because sometimes it bottoms out against the hub and it will cause the free play I was having, after crinding it down I installed the prop and it felt tight, took the boat for a ride and rechecked the prop, still nice and tight,
thanks for the replys :ernaehrung004:
