General Question
 

Last year I put a new 540 in my 25 Checkmate.
On the dyno it had 572 HP at 5400 rpm

When I bought the boat it came with several props.
1 3 blade Mercury Mirage Plus 25 P

1 4 blade Bravo 1 24 P

When I put the Bravo 1 One on the boat pulls hard to the left side and if I drop the rpms at all it dives hard to the right.

Currently put on A Mercury Mirage Plus 24P 3blade

Went out today and all he pulling and diving has stopped with this prop. But if I throttle up too hard it seems to cavitate.

It there any way to tell if the hub is bad or if the boat has too much hp for the prop?

New info

Changed the hub and its new.
The 24 p must be cavitating.

Any Ideas about which way t go?

I am not sure if the cavitation is because the bite is too big or there is not enough bite to keep the prop engaged.

ANy insights would be appreciated.

Had a similar problem with a Formula 242 I used to own (615HP). I'm assuming you have tabs and have them buried in. I had to work the throttle and come up on plane at about 1/3 throttle. Any more gas than that and all it would do is spin.

I'm running around 600hp I used a 28p bravo 1 wot is around 4700 rpms just as nose drops prop slips, back off throttle a little and get in to it again works great just have to get used to the power try to get your hands on some test props get pitch right before purchase, that can be a expensive guess

I am havin the exact same problem with a 24ft 600hp 14x21p. Is this just a problem with this much power or is there a way to get it to stop? I thought it was a hub problem till i took prop off and found out it was a solid hub setup.
