Weird seals under the snubber strips on a XR hub
 

Below is a pic of the prop hub in my bravo XR.
I've just found that there are those white plastic things (they seem made of silicon) under the snubber strips. Not very thick, 1/32" or so.
If I remove them, the prop fit gets loose.
What do you think, will a set of new snubber strips (which as I found out are available as spare parts) fix the problem?
What I'm wondering is if the old owner simply used this weird workaround for not bothering to change the strips with some new ones, or if he had other reasons...

PS: another question: I've seen that there are three washers under the nut, and one of them is thicker.
I kept them in the same order as I found them, but considering the above workaround I tend not to trust 100% what the previous owner did... Can anyone confirm me the right sequence?
On mercruiserparts the thicker one seems in the middle (which needless to say is NOT the way I found them), but the picture is not so clear.

There adhesive that is no longer adhesing.....You can run the prop with it slightly loose if that is all the play left in the prop/hub.

1. Thickest
2. Next size down thickest
3. Smallest or thinest

The installation order going from prop back towards the nut is:

1, 3, 2.

There is a reason but I have no idea what it is. That is the correct order though.

I didn't even notice that all of them are different, I only spotted the thickest one.
Will check more carefully the next time I'll be at the boat, thanks again!

By chance, since I know you're also running an XR drive with B I prop, do you also have those white strips?

Paul from looking at your picture, it simply looks like you've exposed the adhesive that holds the shock pads in place.

Normally, the black pads stay smoothly attached to the hub and you don't have the pieces to deal with like when using the standard bravo I hub with the rubber strips.

Doh! I wasn't even aware that the shock pads are supposed to stay attached to the hub!
Those white strips aren't adhesive at all - not anymore, at least.
