Done, offered the guy (in my own subdivision) $125!!!, and he took it, guess I should have offered him $100!!! Oh well, doesn't look like it's ever been on a boat, he said he used it for a couple weeks but was to much prop for his boat...and it has been sitting in his basement for years...that he'd wanted to get rid of it for a while.
Michigan Wheel Ballistic Propeller OMC part #345034. I guess we can add that to the list of props to try.... :) Now all I need it my friggin' boat back :( |
Intimidator -- get that boat in the water? Now that you have the graphics done (and they look amazing by the way), I'm dying to hear about the labbed prop!
Let us know when you can, still waiting on my boat, so until then I'll have to live vicariously through you :) |
well I finaly got to test the new lab finished prop from bblades, what a diferents!!!! in calm water before I would run 62 mph was my best, with the lab finished prop in calm water I ran a consistant 64 mph, and hit 65mph a couple times on gps. I recomend the investment. thanks bret for a job well done. i cant wait to try it in choppy water to see what I gain.

yeah I ran a few times, have you got your boat out yet?
The mechanical stuff took so long my glass guy can't do my paint until August, and you almost have me convinved to wrap it anyhow, we'll see. |
Just ordered this http://www.hydromotive.com/nosecones.html -- it'c completely unclear from the website but the MC HC1 B fits the 1990 and later King Cobra, the lady said at 60-65 mph a 2-3 mph gain would be pretty typical with this drive, if that's true it will be the cheapest 2 mph I ever paid for. Hell if it gets me 1 mph I'll still be ecstatic....

Original saga is posted here....it's been nuts...http://www.speedwake.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69815
Que the drum roll please -- Data was taken with my etracker GPS to the tenth of a mph and rpm's were taken with a snap-on digital tach hooked to the #1 wire. I was on the Detroit river and had to use a 2-way average for speed in the exact same location (heading south is way better on the ego :) ). Conditions were with barely a ripple on the water and the RPM's were taken just by looking the digital tach -- would jump around +/- 20 rpm or so so it's approximate but damn near as close as you can get. Boat is stock with the exception of stainless marine manifolds and has a 1.43 ratio drive 1) 14 1/4 x 24 Turbo -- 4200rpm @ 58.4mph (what came on the boat when I purchased it. 2) 14 1/2 x 20P Raker -- 5300rpm 61.5mph 3) 14 3/8 x 21P Ballistic -- 5140rpm 63.0mph! I was going to lab the prop that would get me the closest to 5200 RPM, looks like the Ballistic would be it, but I don't want to spin it any faster than that really, so I need to find a 22P prop to try.... Once I get a labbed prop and get the nose cone installed on the drive I'm hoping to get another 2-3 mph. I will also note that the hole shot was awfull on the turbo (duh), and the Raker and the Ballistic seemed pretty similar, although this was a light load. My gas tank was 100% full, as in I filled it up this morning, just me in the boat, but had all the normal equipment in the boat, anchor, jackets, tube's etc up front and twin deep cycle batteries. Point being I didn't leave anything at the dock to try to get better #'s (well, except my wife ). I am happy to finally be able to post some numbers this has been painful! EDIT: FYI according to my snap-on tach, the stock tach reads about 150-200 rpm low. |
Intimidator, you still out there?
|
Did you ever put a nose one on? If so what type of gains?
