BBlades on #6 prop shafts

Brett, I understand that Pro-Roc Marine in NJ does a #6 prop shaft conversion on a Bravo 1 lower. My question is:
Is going from a Bravo 1 style prop to a clever style that much of a jump in performance? Richard

It can be. It depends on many variables. Air entrapment hulls with high "X" dimentions and med./ heavy HP can do well. I've worked with Rolf at ProRoc set up on a number of apps. including Spectres this way.
Call him and see what he thinks about your application.

Given the larger OD on the bullet area of the Bravo lower vs. a #6 or even a #5 speedmaster lower, would that larger area on the Bravo disrupt the clever style prop from working properly? Did I explain that correctly?

I will call Rolf on Monday. I will let you know what he recommends. Richard

Typically you will run larger diameter cleavers Than the Bravo series props.

With an IMCO -2" lower, the maximum diameter prop is a 16"?
Unless modifications are made to clearance the cav plate area of the upper?

Thanks for the referral Brett :)

ROTAX,
The Maximus stock diameter is 15 5/8" The Merc Sporty 2" shorty can't handle the 15 5/8" diameter unless you mod the case or better yet remove the splash plate. But, I believe the IMCO can go to almost 16". We modify 95% of the Maximus props we do to 15.5" or less for various reasons and the other Hering, Hydro and Turbo 5 blade Bravo drive style propellers all fit on the IMCO drive.
Bravo 1 propellers are advertised at 15.25 but most are actually only 15". That is the reason I suggested you typically run bigger diameter #6 cleavers. Bigger than 15" is what I meant. The answer to your question is no. The larger diameter "nose" of the case will not hamper the #6 cleaver. When a boat is operating at med. to top end the last third / outer diameter of the propeller is doing all the work anyway.

ProRoc,
You guys are one the best setup groups on the east coast (or anywhere for that matter).
My pleasure.

Brett
