I have a 2002 Laveycraft 29' NuEra. It has the 500 EFI. I will be doing most of my boating at 7500' elevation. The boat came with a 26 p Bravo 1 that was being used at sea level. I have ran the boat at 3 different elevations with a 24 p Bravo 1.

Highline Res elevation 4700' 24 p B1 4400 rpm 52 mph
Havasu 500' elevation 24 p B1 5000 rpm 65 mph
Lake Powell 3700' elevation 24 p B1 4600 rpm 58 mph

I have a 22 p B1 that I'm going to try at Pueblo res elevation 4880' next week. I have a feeling that I will not be spinning up the rpms enough at that elevation with that prop.

Any thoughts on what prop I might use at 7500' elevation?

I think that I could have used the 22 p at Powell.

I'm not real worried about losing top end, I would rather have a good whole shot and use the whole rpm band my engine is capable of like 5000 rpm?

Any thought would be appreciated.

Thanks Greg

GAZ,

Let's try a 21 Revolution 4 through the test program. It may need a adjustment but I believe the casting is the correct choice. Otherwise we will need to go to the 19 Revolution 4 and bump it accordingly.
7500' will require a decrease of 3-4 inches of pitch. typically.

Let me know if you want to try anything.
Brett

So we spent a couple days at Pueblo Res.....Elevation 4880 MSL. ran a 22P Bravo 1... 4750 RPM....57 MPH. Had a pretty good whole shot but would unhook right before planing and then hook back up.

Our home Reservoir Blue Mesa (7500 MSL) is still a couple weeks from opening up.

Brett, I know this prop is not going to work for me up here. I would like to talk with you about a test program and where you think I should start. I'm not super concerned with the top end but want the prop to grab all the way through my RPM range to around 4800-5000.

GAZ,

Please call me when you can and we can set up some testing options.

I think I did see you there on Saturday maybe? Our Lavey is White purple and blue. We had a great few days, left on Sunday morning. What power and prop are you running? Where do you go mostly? I think we will probably get to Pueblo again this Spring we should try to meet up.

My Advantage has a 496ho, running a 22p bravo. Pueblo was 54 mph@4800 rpms. At Havasu I was 60@5000rpm . My boat planes out awesome & never blows out, I just want more top speed. I will be at Blue mesa a lot this summer & Navajo. Also planning some Powell trips. Us oxygen deprived guys need "special" props or 800hp

I hear ya on our "specialness". I'm going to call Brett Monday and see what we can come up with for Blue Mesa. Its was supposed to open up around April 15th but as fast as its melting looks like maybe earlier. Let me know next time you are going out and maybe we can get together.

Hey TROR, Talked with Brett on Monday we are going to try a Revolution 4 blade 19P. Blue Mesa has a boat ramp open now! Lake fork is open and they are expecting Elk Creek to open by end of this week maybe.

Very cool GAZ, will see about heading over mabye next weekend. Will let ya know. Hey Brett, on the same situation, would a 21p 3 blade work as good as a 19 4 blade? Mabye a better top speed? Poor handling? My boat planes well, handles great, just want more top speed for altitude. I am going to call ya to try out a couple props, just wanted your input on 3 blade vs 4 blade in the altitude.

bbladesprops 04-05-2012 10:18 AM

THOR,
A 21 M+ will run 200ish rpm higher than a 22 B1. Lab Finishing it will allow it to spin easier and can allow for another 100-300 rpm depending on the recipe.
You will need to take those numbers into concideration when you decide what elevation you will run it at.

To answer the question further, if the 3 blade hooks up well, the top speed could be 1-3 mph faster.

Thanks,
Brett

Got my Rev 19 prop on Friday to try. Unfortunately the weather is terrible snowing and blowing. Hopefully clear up about Tuesday or Wednesday and I'll give it a try.

GAZ 04-18-2012 09:18 PM

Hi Brett,

Got a break in the weather this afternoon and put the boat in Blue Mesa Res elevation 7480 msl ran the Revolution 4 19 pitch 5000 rpm 50mph and still had 1/4 throttle left over. Didn't have time to run the 22 pitch Bravo 1. But I don't think that is the right prop for 7500 msl. Is there any prop between these two?

bbladesprops 04-19-2012 11:27 AM

Running the 22 B1 would have been a great idea.
Anyway we have the 21 Rev 4 and some Turbo/PP options as well.

Brett

I know I should have but weather was turning to crap and.....didn't feel like swapping props. Anyway it seems like I should try that 21 Rev 4. May be just right. Because the 22p Bravo 1 at 4880 msl would only spin up to 4750 rpm, so I got to believe it would be quite a bit lower lower rpm at 7480 msl. How many rpms would I gain by labbing the 22p Bravo 1 ? 200 or 300? Anyway I will run the 22p Bravo 1 this weekend (weather permitting) and report back. Thinking I should have Brad ship the 21p Rev tomorrow?

bbladesprops 04-20-2012 11:12 AM

GAZ,

We have 2 sets of 21 Rev's in test inventory and both are out.
We will order a new one today for you and have it Monday. Please call on Monday and we'll get everything done.

Thanks Brett! Weather is looking good for the weekend high 60s low70s WOOHOO!!! as you know thats warm for here. I'll get some numbers on the 22p Bravo 1 at 7480 msl. Im thinking the 21p Rev 4 with some labbing may get me close to 5000 at full throttle. I'll talk with you on Monday.

GAZ 04-23-2012 08:04 AM

Hey Brett

Got the boat out on Blu Mesa this weekend 7480 msl ran the 22p Bravo 1. Got some surprising to me numbers. Let me tell you first my Gaffrig GPS started giving problems on Sunday (I think antenna battery)

But on Saturday before it started acting up I did some full throttle runs into the wind and with the wind. Into the wind 4600rpm 47mph and with the wind 4600rpm and 52mph. I did not think it would spin up that far.

Problem is it takes FOREVER to get on plane. So what do you guys think we should try next?

bbladesprops 04-23-2012 08:55 PM

GAZ,

Check your PM

Brett
