Eight Blades vs. Six
Considering replacing stock three blade 28p props on Formula 252 454 Bravo III with four blade 28p. Will there be noticable increased performance? Should I consider different pitch? Anyone using Hill Signature props?

First off. Way too little info here for us to say anything. Current max GPS speed @ ? rpms, gear ratio ect. What 454 is it? More blades in a BIII setup will rearely give you more speed. Call Brett at Bblades. I know he's a fan of the 3+3s. The 4+3 is also a possiblillity. I did not know they did a 4+4. There is the XR BIII props as well. BIII props can, as well as other props, be labbed for custom performance. Have no experience with the Hill props.

Thanks for suggestion, will contact Brett at BBlades prior to change. The gear ratio is 1:81, the motor 454 LX MPI 330 hp, max WOT 4600 RPM, and the speed 58ish mph. was not only looking for a little speed, but better planing time. Was not sure of benefits of 4 blades vs. 3 blades.

Your slip % is just under 14. A very acceptable number.
3x3's have more modification abilitys. The 4x4 Signature propeller has proven to be a great low end and mid range upgrade. We carry them and love what they were intended for. You may lose 2 mph on top end with these. $599 each Call and we can discuss more in depth the options you have. Brett |
Thanks Brett, great info, will be in touch prior to change!!
