You obviously have an outdrive with much lower gears.

Most boats with a 1.5 ratio drive will run about 65mph at 5200rpms with a 23 Mirage Plus.

350 mag w/4barrel carb. I think its rated at 270hp?
not sure of the dia. as I havent had a chance to measure it yet.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Your '94 mag is a 250 hp motor, rated at 4400-4800 rpms, so your not that far off in terms of speed and pitch. It was not untill the later 300hp / 350 MAG EFI and MPI the revs were at the 5000+ mark, even the 280hp 350 MAG EFI were rated for 4400-4800 rpms. I belive your limiter is at 5050

The prop to run is the 17" or 18" Mirage+ or 17" Revolution 4, you want to spin that motor around 4600-4700 for good top end combined with good efficiency. Alse, albeit I'm a huge fan if the LaserII, you need more diameter for thrust on this hull. For a good blend of top speed and good efficiency, I'd start with a 18"M+, but that will be down to personal preference. No matter what, the number to shoot for, is 47-49 mph, depending on conditions ect. Maybe it does not sound like a lot, but you are at the boats limit with that power.

so what your saying some one could have put the wrong gears in the upper drive,so i will have to go even more pitch or change gear set?
