26 Pitch hydro motive question
I have a 2004 Kachina Force 26 foot. Has a stock 496 HO Mag. With a bravo 1 22 pitch prop. Ran 59.2 at 5200 Rpm. I used my friends 26 pitch hydro motive and ran 63.1 at 4700rpm. My question is what can I do to get closer to 70 with only a prop change. Does the water temperature make a difference on speed and will I be able to turn a 26 prop when the temperature of the water is in the 80's, because when I ran this test, the out side temp was 61 and the water temp was 43.

Sh1t can that 496 ho and get a real motor. :eekdrop: HA HA

Once it warms up your going to lose another 2-300 RPMs so thats going to put you around 44-4500 RPMs. This is way to low. A 23-24 hydro would be a good place to start. You can tweak your props all you want, your never going to get 70 mph. In order to gain 7 mph your going to need another 140 hp. Raylar has some packages for your motor but my guess is its going to cost you around $4-5000 to for that kind of increase.

No way you will even close to 70 with that power. To gain 7 mph, you need another 100-150hp.

With the little information I have, I'd predict 65-66 mph with the properly Labbed 26 pitch Bravo 1 or 25 Hydromotive Q4 and your current set up.

New test. Ran 66 mph with a Bravo 1 26 pitch at 4600 rpm. I'm thinking to have a 26 lab finished. I think that will get me close to 70.

Yes, Labbing will get you about 300 rpm and the related speed.
Call me if I can explain more in detail. Brett |
wow...7 mph with prop change...i'm impressed

So what did you end up deciding on? I'd think a 22" or 24" Bravo I would get you as close as you can get since you still had RPM's left.
