mirage and mirage hub question
 

I need some help, i am currently running a standard mirage 23 prop that has the removable hub. I just purchased a mirage plus prop and cant seem to figure out if it is the same hub or not. does any one know if they are interchangeable or not? i know the ones i see online are torg flo IIs and list mirage but i also read that they changed the hub on the plus so i am unsure. I was hoping to test it this weekend so if i have the wrong one i am wanting to order it tonight so i can have it for the weekend.

This is the hub kit that i have on my mirage plus prop. Not sure what hub kit the mirage prop would have.

this is where i get confused, the link posted talked aboutt he mirage having the solid rubber hub but i have a 23 and 25 mirage that both take a hub kit that looks just like the one posted above.

They come with either solid hub flotrqII for 400+ hp or the rubber flotrqII for motors up to 400 hp. If you run 400+ hp, you shuold order one of these.

The non solids can take the power of 496HOs and 502s but you are better off with the solid hub props. Cheap insurance. You need to be insanely quick if one fails at wot,

In 1999 we changed the depth of the casting inner hub.
Pre 1999 it uses a K1/Q11 longer version. Quicksilver version.
Post 1999 we use K2/Q12 shorter version. Mercruiser version.

thanks, i was able to locate a hub kit in town so i can test run this weekend. brett, can you confirm what the difference is between the mirahe and the mirae plus prop? there is allot of conflicting info online

The original Mirage did not have the PVS system or any vent system. The original Mirage had a round rubber 15 spline hub or a cast in solid hub The original Mirage had trailing edge cupping although it was minor.

Then there was a initial Mirage Plus with a cupping enhancement but still using the rubber and cast in hub and without PVS. Then the Mirage Plus recieved the Flo-Torq 2 system in 1996-1997ish

In 1999 the Mirage Plus recieved the PVS system and had a hub bore depth adjustment to align it with the rest of the Mercury (not Racing) prop flo-torq 2 hub depths. This was to make things easier but it actually made it tougher for us in the Mercury Racing propeller world.

There are still numerous props from M+'s to B1's the Lightning ET's and chopper running the wrong hub inserts.

i have heard that there were some props with the "baja cup" the prop i just bought has a baja logo on it, does that mean anything? thanks fo the info

In the mid 1990 we (I was at Mercury then) owned Baja.
At that time, the folks at Baja asked us to electro etch the Baja logo into the Mirage propellers. We thought it was a great idea so all Baja's during that time received a monogrammed Propeller.

Customers thought it was cool!

Anyway, these props did not have a "Baja Cup".

We started doing this cupping on the Bravo 1 props for Baja's at Mercury Racing in the 1999 time frame and the public started calling it a Baja cup in the mid 2000's.

Great answers...always wondered about those props. Brett, How is the hydromotive 3 blade compared to the mirage plus/mirage/pre-mirage (what i have cupped spinning 4800k at 61 mph). I'm planning on testing a few my friend had lying around, a 24p rh/lh for my 88' 292 stock 330hp formula. Is it worth me taking the boat in/out...? these days cant do it in water anymore due to health.
