Baja Outlaw prop recommendation
I have a 26' Outlaw and trying to find a prop to get me out of the water better. Has 496 HO. With more than 2 people in boat, it takes forever to plane out. I had 23p Bravo one 3 blade, then tried 21p Mirage Plus. It was no better.
Would a 24p Bravo One 4 blade do the trick? |
I would try a 21 Revolution 4.
We have them for testing. Brett |
Had the same problem. On a earlier post early June and thru trial and error this is what I found. 4 blades will get you out of the hole great and mid range good as well but top end will die. Tried 24 Bravo 1 only 4800 rpm's and the first try was 26 with only 4650 rpm's. Taked a prop guy up here in Ontario and we took my 25 pitch Power Tech and put what he called the Baja cup in it and labbed it. Now it comes out like 4 blade and got the top end that I was looking for 64.5 mph on GPS.

Just a note to above the Power Tech is 3 blade.

26 outlawdave, If it works, sweet, keep using it. Just goes to show you what proper propeller adjustments can do.
We have found the Mirage + prop to be the fastest prop top end Labbed to Baja spec. propeller. If you are going to Lab a 4 blade, which will have the best holeshot/planability, it is tough to do better than a Bravo 1 that is Labbed correctly to the boat. Top end and cruise combined. If you want box stock price level, the Revolution 4 will be tough to beat. Baja cup is a slang term for something we started at Mercury Racing many years ago. It has been copied or attempted to be copied ever since. There actually is a science to that adjustment determined by the owners input and the size of the Baja we are working with. Brett |
Thanks for that info Brett and for your suggestions on my post before, it helped with the dialing in of the adjustments needed.
