props in or out???
 

hi!

i have recently bought a 2800sx checkmate with twin 20 inch 225 promax outboards on a 30 in setback running 26p merc 3 blade choppers.

the boat is very light in the nose and heavy in the stearn. the props are turning in at the moment.

the boat porpoises badly without strict manipulation of the k planes and in rough water the nose wants to fly. id like to do what i can to make the boat fly flat in rough water.

any advice is greatly appreciated!

Try turning the propellers out.
Also, raising the engines can eliminate porpoise by preventing the transom leverage. There is a fine line. You have to find the sweet spot.

whitch would you try first?

i feel like the engines could go up some...the back of my boat sits very low in the water and the nose sits high. the engines are on the lowest setting.....up one notch on the bracket would take me up bout an inch and back a lil bit.

Try any and every prop option you get.
The results will tell us a bunch and also point us in the right direction.
I have owned and loved (still love) Checkmates. They are typical within the family but have unique siblings.
