Prop Help
26 American offshore tunnel with twin 300x Mercs, boat weighs approx 5000lbs with fuel, batteries, motors, and driver. The problem is we are not sure what prop to run on this setup. We have a couple of 4 blade 30 hydromotive props through the hub exhaust work down to 29's. The props are running 102 on top end with no set-up time involved, but when the extra gas and weight was added to the boat the props would not turn past 2500 rpms and wouldnt break loose to come out of the hole. Which Todd told us to send the props back and he would drill exhaust holes in them and this would let them turn loose on take off. Hydromotive props are the best, but we would like to know what everybody else is running on these types of hulls with OB motors. We thought about trying 30x15 3 blade Offshore clevers.

Welcome to OSO.
Call me when you can and I can help. You have a bunch of stuff to concider. Todd's props are awesome. We sell, modify and repair them all the time. However, in your case, I have some other options you can toss through your thought process. Just venting the props may not get you where you want to be. Cleavers are a option but Hybreds are a better option. Brett |
Thanks Brett, I'm glad I found this site I'm dying to get a tunnel boat with twin merc outboards. The boat I posted about is a good friend, I gave him your contact info.
