Flo-Torq hub question
 

Anyone know the difference between these two? The one on the left doesn't allow the thrust washer to go down into the prop hub at all.

It looks like it is an additional bushing.

My steel flo-torq hub is the same size as the one on the right.

Depending on the tolerances, the one on the left will compress to allow the package to be tight.
All kits should come with the fwd bushing in my opinion.

We did some running changes on those kits over the years. The one with the fwd bushing was addded for higher OB engine heights. These are really under 300 HP application setup parts.

Ha ha. Funny that you would bring this up now. I just did some
unexpected experimentation myself. I have three Flo-Torq II
hub kits for my props. They all had different "part numbers".
Something with a suffix change on each - K1...K2...K5 or ??? I
just threw out the boxes so I can not confirm the numbers but
I looked at them and 2 kits are identical. The third has the
extra "bushing" that you identified. The kits were purchased
a few years apart with the last one for my Revolution 4 prop.
This one has the extra bushing. Remarkably they all work
on my Mirage Plus and Rev 4 props. But there is a difference
in "fit". The kit with the extra bushing will compress less and
be really snug. What is wierd is that the bushing can be
popped out and put in to one of the older kits and it works
just fine even though if you look into the sleeve(long black
plastic part) you will see the differences. According to the one
instruction sheet that I saved the kit with the extra bushing
should be used with the Revolution 4, Temptest Plus, Trophy
Plus, and Bravo 1-A45 props. I can send you some pics if

That extra bushing is for high rake props which put higher side loads on the hub. I had used a tempest for years and every couple months I would have to replace the hub because I would be able to wobble the prop. I think over time that is what eventually bent my shaft. I found out about that missing bushing for the high rake props and never had a problem after that. Without the bushing, I would wear down those little nubs off the bottom of the hub and that is what would cause the looseness.
